Ghent cuberdons in a bag

The cuberdon, known in Ghent as a neuzeke, is one of Belgium's best known sweets. Recognisable by its cone shape, with a firm outer shell and a liquid centre with an intense raspberry flavour.

Made to a recipe dating back to 1873. The contrast between the lightly crusted shell and the syrup inside is exactly what makes it so distinctive.
